Sun into Aquarius; slowly building connections

Aquarius season starts slowly this year, as evidenced by how late I am writing this. There’s a strong overlap between the visionary airy perspective of Aquarius and the deep roots and solid structures of Capricorn. Venus is still retrograde in Capricorn and Mercury retrogrades back there in a few days time (on 26th January). So there is still work to be done to articulate something deep, even something heavy. Mercury has met Pluto once already in Capricorn and will do so again on February 11th, direct again by that time. By this third pass, we may be able to articulate what has surfaced during the retrograde season, to remove ~Pluto’s helmet of invisibility just for a little while and see what we find. Venus turns direct on January 29th and will stay in Capricorn for several more weeks, carrying with her the gifts and resources she uncovered in the underworld.

From the first week of February, the energy begins to shift, so that any Capricorn energy which has held us back begins to find release in the clear skies of Aquarius. During Capricorn season we are climbing a mountain, and it might feel as if this time, it’s been one step forward and two steps back the whole way. By the middle of Aquarius season we finally have a chance to reach the peak, to find some clarity and perspective in taking the longer view. Mercury arrives back in Aquarius on the 14th February and the following day, the Sun in Aquarius squares the nodal axis. We are able to make connections, to seek community, the folk and the ideas who break us out of our comfortable thinking and show us a new way of living, of being, of connecting. Like all of the air signs, Aquarius links us to the great web of being, a multi dimensional tangle which shows all the interconnections between peoples, between concepts, between everything. In Aquarius, we are called to find our unique place in that web, our unique self, our unique contribution.
