Monthly Astro Forecast; New Moon in Libra

The new Moon in Libra brings a seed point, an awakening of reciprocity which reminds us that we are in relationship with everything as well as with everyone. Not just the human people in our lives and the human people not in our lives but also all the non-human people, the places we inhabit, the tools we use. Everything is a relationship and the new Moon in Libra asks us to balance give and take in those relationships. Libra is the sign of harmony and equilibrium, endlessly moving states which call for our energy and attention. Where are we going to extremes and how can we come back into balance?

The new Moon is really the dark Moon, when the Moon is so close to the Sun She can't be seen and we move into reflection time, contemplation time. The dark Moon in Libra calls us to consider all of our interactions between self and other, whatever form that other takes, and also with the different parts of ourselves. Both inner and outer unions can be formed and changed under this new Moon. What patterns emerge from our relationships, what do those we are in close relationship with reflect back to us? And of course, this new Moon is also a great time to reach out and initiate new connections, with like-minded folk and beings who share our path and also with those who see the world from a different perspective to ours and may have something to teach us.

Scorpio energy is coming into focus too, with the Sun moving into Scorpio on October 22nd and meeting Mercury retrograde there on the 25th, shining a light into our deepest unconscious selves. Scorpio energy lures us further into the dark, with Mercury retrograde leading the way. Pluto, Lord of the Underworld and of this pandemic year, is the modern ruler of Scorpio and we may find that all the Pluto transformations which have been scratching at the surface of our consciousness all year are ready to emerge, especially with Pluto having turned direct on 4th October. This year has transformed us all for sure and as we move towards Samhain here in the northern hemisphere, the darkest part of the year, it's time to let go of stagnant energy and allow deep shifts to occur. These might be triggered on Samhain itself when the Sun in Scorpio opposes Uranus the great awakener, or even before that on 20th October when Mercury retrograde opposes Uranus.

Libra energy is still active even as we move into Scorpio season, with Mercury retrograde moving back into Libra on 28th October and Venus, Libra's ruling planet, arriving there on the same day. We might be more sociable (whatever that means right now!) and focused on our interactions with others as well as seeking balance within ourselves. Libra is also about right action and the new Moon brings a seed point for activism, for making sure that we are acting with integrity. It's not always easy (and is clearly too much like hard work for those currently in power) but is more important than ever amidst the confusion and uncertainty we are all living through.

On November 3rd, Mercury turns direct in Libra, arriving back in Scorpio on the 10th and helping us to articulate and share our transformational experiences. The message for this lunation is about balancing mindful relationship with owning our power. That power becomes easier to connect with and more visible after November 14th when Mars turns direct after over two months of retrograde motion. The Jupiter Pluto conjunction in Capricorn on November 12th is also an intense moment and I'll hopefully write a separate post on it nearer the time.
