Full Moon Astro-tarot: balancing our actions
The full moon in Aries is dynamic and powerful, bringing the ability to act, to take the lead, to get moving. Actions definitely speak louder than words with this full moon. But of course, the full moon is a polarity and with the Moon in Aries we have the Sun in Libra, reminding us that no one is an island, that we all connect with and relate to and learn from other beings and from the world around us.
The Aires - Libra axis is the dynamic between self and other and like absolutely everything else, how we experience that dynamic is changing this year. Our personal relationships are in focus with all this time in lockdown, showing up any flaws or reminding us of the strength of our connections. Our relationship to the collective is changing too, it's a long time since many of us were asked to sacrifice personal comfort and freedom for the sake of the greater good. The full Moon in Aries asks us to remember who we are as individuals but also to remember that we are not alone, that it's always bigger than just us and what we want. Our inner flames burn bright with this full moon, all the brighter if we help others to shine just as brightly.
An awkward connection between the Moon and Uranus might bring some unsettled energy to the full moon, breaking us out of old habits or mindsets whether we like it or not. We can choose to bring ourselves into balance, or the universe might just do it for us! Holding to our most authentic selves and ideals of truth is important with this full moon and acting for the sake of it is likely to backfire, especially with Mars, the ruler of Aries, still retrograde.
I've asked the Embroidered Forest tarot for some wisdom about this full moon, feel free to use the spread for your personal full moon reading - and let me know how you get on if you do!
Moon in Aries - How do we keep our inner flame burning strong and pure in uncertain times? - Four of Cups
I'm drawn to the swan in this card. Maybe she is swimming away from a situation or emotional pattern which has become stagnant and outdated. Or maybe she is simply turning her back, tired of the familiar but unsure where to go next. Knowing where or how we are stuck is often the first step to taking action to create change. The Four of Cups reminds us not only that our feelings, whether of fear of anything else, are often what hold us back but also that our actions are more emotionally driven than we realise.
Sun in Libra - How can we grow in our relationships? - King of Pentacles
The King carries authority as the Sun does, so to grow in our relationships we need to find our inner authority. the dynamic between Aries and Libra often shows the balance, or lack of it, between asserting ourselves and fitting in with others. The King of Pentacles asks us to find our own inner authority and relate from there, free of projections or assumptions or expectations. He calls us to act with integrity, to take responsibility for ourselves and our loved ones.
Aspects to Uranus - How are we breaking free? - Four of Pentacles
Short answer - we're not. The Four of Pentacles speaks of solid ground, familiar structures, stability and security. All three of these cards have that stability, a reliance on what is established and solid. I'm wondering if Uranus might turn out to be helpful here, jolting us out of a habit of holding on too strongly. To a greater or lesser extent, all of us have been pushed to the bottom of Maslow's hierarchy of needs by the global pandemic, focusing on what we need to survive and holding on to whatever solid ground we have. Which is understandable and necessary but if we're going to rebuild something better, we can't hold on to the old ways forever.
