Monthly Astro Forecast; New Moon in Sagittarius

The new moon in fiery Sagittarius on November 26th follows the Sun's move into Sagittarius on November 22nd. The sign of mutable fire, Sagittarius inspires us with warmth and light as we move through the darkest days of the year here in the northern hemisphere. Perhaps ironic that I as the Sun was moving into Sagittarius last Friday, I was sitting in the dark and cold, as we had power cuts for over twelve hours of the day - here's hoping the new moon in Sagittarius will shift that for good! The reminder that we are still in hibernation season didn't go unnoticed though and the new moon in Sagittarius asks us to consider what inspires our growth at a time when we are still gestating the new beginning which will come with the Winter Solstice. We might see this as the beginning of "advent" season, a reaching for the light as the days shorten and the nights are long. We may be surrounded by commercial and conventional pressures to consume, to socialise, to do, exactly at the time when we need to be making space for new inspiration and inner growth. Sagittarius season brings hope, renewal and optimism after the deep waters of Scorpio. As we move towards the rebirth of the divine spark at Yule, this new moon asks us to consider what sparks our growth and how we are reaching for the light, whilst also honouring the dark and the quiet. Sagittarius energy is whatever brings us warmth and security in the dark and also what gives us a sense of meaning. For some, this is the busy holiday season which allows us to reconnect and spend time with loved ones, for others it may be something else and Sagittarius brings the freedom to claim the magic of the season in whatever way is right for us. All seasons have their unique magic and this one is no different.
Sometimes the outer planets are wild cards in the seasonal cycle, bringing in different or even opposing energies. But right now they are fairly well attuned or at least complimentary. There is plenty of earth energy around, with lots of planets in Capricorn and also connections between the inner planets and Uranus in Taurus. Earth energy is perfect to help us manifest our Sagittarius visions and stay grounded, remembering to balance the dark and the light. Venus moves into Capricorn the same day as the new moon, reminding us to slow down and take our time. We'll get pings of Capricorn energy as Venus meets the outer planets which are already there, so the South Node on December 3rd, Saturn on December 11th and Pluto on December 13th. We might be challenged to be true to our values around those days, something to keep in mind for those of us in the UK with a General Election on the 12th. Capricorn energy is about doing what is right, not what is easy, and then dealing with the consequences. On December 20th, Venus moves on into Aquarius and we may be wanting to make changes and connect with our authentic selves, to break out of any restrictive Capricorn systems but still with a strong desire to do what's right.
On December 2nd Jupiter also moves into Capricorn, after a year in his home sign Sagittarius. This is a big shift and I'm hoping to do a full blog post on it. For now, we can begin to consider how we expand and grow within the structures and conventions of Capricorn. There is some powerful manifesting energy here if we can balance vision with hard work. On December 9th, Jupiter also squares Chiron, reminding us to own our power and have confidence in our achievements. A few days later Chiron turns direct, enabling us to bring the healing process to consciousness and energising our spiritual warrior. Neptune also turns direct during this lunation, the day after the full moon, allowing us to channel our dreams into reality and perhaps find a more conscious connection to the sources of our inspiration. Mercury arrives in Sagittarius on December 9th, lightening the mental load as we emerge from the deep waters of Scorpio. Around December 15th we may be seeking freedom or perhaps experience something which liberates us as Jupiter makes a harmonious aspect with radical Uranus. Inner or outer structures may be breaking down or breaking open. On December 20th the Sun moves into Capricorn, marking the Winter Solstice here in the north and of course the Summer Solstice in the southern hemisphere. It's a time of powerful solar energy and celebrating the light.
