Monthly Astro-Forecast: New Moon in Libra
If you don't look too hard, there's much that is pleasant about the chart for the new moon in Libra on September 28th. Mercury and Venus are also in Libra, gently opening the way toward mutual understanding, peace and harmony. I'm generally too cynical for the love and light brigade but there's definitely some of that going on. Venus is making a helpful sextile with Jupiter, bringing good times, good fortune, all the good things which we hope to gain when the two benefic planets meet. Venus is also making a rather awkward quincunx with Neptune in Pisces, reminding us that intellect and spirit often struggle to understand each other or even admit the validity of each other's worldview. Venus and Neptune can be a lovely combination, reminding us of universal love and togetherness. Or they dissolve the barriers completely and leave us lost in escapism. So there's my cynic radar going off already...
Lurking just beyond a square with all that lovely Libra harmony are Saturn and the South Node, who meet in Capricorn on the same day as the full moon. I've already written about their symbolism, so go read that if you haven't already.....OK so as you can see, on a deeper level, we are re-structuring, releasing, making deep and lasting changes. We've already seen these energies clash more directly as Venus then Mercury squared the Capricorn planets and the clash comes to the fore again on the 6th, 7th and then 14th October when the Sun squares the nodal axis, then Saturn and finally Pluto in Capricorn. Later in the month Mars in Libra also clashes with the Capricorn planets, squaring the nodal axis on the 21st and Saturn on the 28th. If all that lovely Libra energy which holds the potential for genuine harmony is actually superficial people-pleasing, those are the dates when reality kicks in. By then we'll be into the beginnings of Scorpio season, with Mercury moving into Scorpio on October 3rd and Venus a few days later on October 8th. Hidden agendas and power struggles are not so easy to hide, especially after the Sun moves into Scorpio on October 23rd.
As well as all those cardinal squares, the personal planets in Scorpio take it in turns to oppose Uranus in Taurus, with Mercury opposing Uranus on October 7th, Venus on the 12th and the Sun on the 28th. These two signs are both experts at holding on tightly, clinging and grasping and resisting change. This gives them great endurance, but can also bring stagnation and a lack of growth. Uranus in Taurus is shaking them up, awakening the deep power which is often buried there. Somewhere in amongst the Uranian surprises, Mars in Libra opposes Chiron in Aries, awakening the spiritual warrior and reminding us that actions speak louder than words. The peace and harmony of Libra will only take us so far until we are forced to make a choice. Can we build new Saturn structures based on harmony and tolerance, embracing diversity and creating flexible and porous boundaries? Or will we go to extremes of Libran polarity and allow black and white, them and us thinking to dominate? The new moon in Libra holds the potential for both and it's up to us to listen, to seek genuine harmony rather than superficial agreement.
