Pleasure and pain, dancing
Right now, Venus, Jupiter and Chiron are close together in Aries, meeting and parting, parting and meeting. Love and meaning and pain, all expressed in the guise of the activist, the warrior. We started with Venus meeting Jupiter on March 1st, the two benefics honouring pleasure and joy and desire - and the taking of them. On March 3rd Venus meets Chiron and later on March 12th Jupiter will meet Chiron. And whilst Venus loves and Jupiter expands, Chiron… Chiron is complicated. Chiron will call us to acknowledge our wounds around pleasure and joy and desire. Chiron might show us our shame, our vulnerability, poking at our sore points until we are forced to pay attention.
More so than any other planetary body, except Pluto maybe, Chiron resists intellectual understanding. Chiron needs to be experienced. Where we have Chiron, we hurt. Our emotions go deep. The subtle dance between the wounding and the healing defies logical explanation. Chiron is where we can’t fix ourselves, however hard we might want to. Where we have to accept ourselves, flawed and pained and beautiful. Chiron is well known as the healer and if we’re not careful, we can get caught up in assuming that healing is a destination. Sooner or later, all of us learn that healing is a journey, a process. So I think it’s more pertinent to call Chiron an initiator, maybe a catalyst, bringing something into our awareness.
So given Jupiter’s tendency to expand and even exaggerate whatever it touches, this could be an intense time. We might be more impulsive, more spontaneous, more likely to take risks. And that can always go either way - perhaps our confidence is heightened and we can act where previously there was fear. Or perhaps its the cliche of texting the ex and then regretting it as all our past pain comes back to haunt us. Seizing the moment is all to the good, as long as we’re ready to take responsibility for whatever consequences the seizing brings. Our impulses can be healthy or… not so much. Ideally, this is a time to revel and even find healing in the expression of our desires, in movement, in our deepest warrior self.
