Monthly Astro Forecast; New Moon in Aquarius
The new moon in Aquarius on February 11th (exact at 19.05 here in the UK) is potentially a seed point for some far reaching changes. There’s a “grand stellium” in Aquarius right now and at the time of the new moon, a total of six planets will be gathered there. As well as the Sun and Moon, Mercury (still retrograde), Venus, Jupiter and Saturn are all in Aquarius so that the energy of this far thinking and visionary sign is super concentrated right now. The only visible planet missing is Mars, which is in Taurus squaring all of these Aquarius planets, adding some tension and a drive to action. With Uranus, ruling planet of Aquarius, also in Taurus, there’s some strong fixed energy around right now. We know we’re in it for the long haul, have been for a while. We know there’s no easy way out. We know that we need to do the work. Our challenge is not to let resistance stifle us, not to decide its too hard and just give up.
Because all this Aquarius energy brings hope and genuine potential for change. The last time all of the planets were in Aquarius (all seven of them that time!) was in 1962 - and look how the 1960s turned out. There were other factors at play back then, of course, not least the deeply transformative Uranus conjunct Pluto in Virgo, and this time around the change may be a little less intense. But change will come and it’s up to us to make sure its the change we want to see. The new moon in Aquarius is a seed point for all of us, to envision our future, both personal and collective and take the first steps to bring that future into being.
Random aside: this is exactly what we’re doing in our workshop on Saturday, exploring our personal connection to Aquarius, especially Jupiter and Saturn, and exploring how we can best use that energy. There are a few places left - drop me an email to sign up.
We’ve had a lot of earthy, heavy energy around lately, especially through 2020 with a whole gang of planets in Capricorn. And there’s been hardly any air energy to lighten the load, with no outer planets in air signs for the last few years. Jupiter and Saturn moving into Aquarius changed all that. We’ve also got the North Node in airy Gemini, making harmonious connections with the Aquarius planets and helping us to step out of the earth sign comfort zone. We are able to open up, to speak out, to think more broadly. We are more flexible, less wedded to the status quo. In short - we can breathe (and you recognise the significance of that, yes?)
As the lunation moves on, the Aquarius energy stays strong. Venus and Jupiter are exactly conjunct on the same day as the new moon so that we can be inspired by a beautiful vision of abundance and growth. Mercury and Venus meet on the 13th and Mercury and Jupiter again on the 14th. On February 21st Mercury turns direct, still in Aquarius, and all the pondering and thinking of the retrograde period can be brought into the light, helped by a repeat conjunction with Jupiter on 5th March. Those are the days for dreaming big, folks! Another significant date is February 17th when Saturn (in Aquarius) squares Uranus in Taurus, the first of three such connections. This is another big shift and probably deserves a post of its own. This aspect is relevant throughout 2021 and brings some dynamic energy for breaking down outdated structures and hopefully building better ones.
The Aquarius energy becomes a little less intense from the 18th, when the Sun moves on into Pisces, softening any hard edges and dissolving the boundaries. Venus joins it there on the 25th, bringing empathy and beauty and love.
