Monthly Astro Forecast; Solar Eclipse in Sagittarius
Monday's solar eclipse in Sagittarius is a spark of light in the darkness, a seed point for expansion and growth. Finally, we are able to envision the heavy Capricorn energy which has characterised this year in a new light, perhaps gaining an awareness of the wider pattern at work in our lives or a new vision for our future growth. There's still an awkward connection coming from Pluto to the solar eclipse, reminding us that it might be challenging to see a way out of the dark right now. But Sagittarius is the sign of faith and optimism, even - especially - if it feels that's all we have.
Sagittarius carries the energy of the teacher and even the guru and this solar eclipse may have something important to teach us about our journey so far and where we are going next. We are called to focus on what gives our lives meaning and allows us to connect to our deepest inner truth, both of which are of course different for all of us. Finding our own personal sense of purpose and meaning is powerful and brings a sense of confidence as well as fulfilment. We may be considering what this extraordinary year has taught us and what that means as we move into the next phase. Because we are moving into the next phase, with a Great Conjunction between Jupiter and Saturn at 0° on the same day as the Winter Solstice. Finally, Capricorn energy begins to lose its dominance and we can seek a new and more innovative approach. This is a big shift and it deserves a post of its own, which I'll hopefully give it later in the week. For now, its enough to know that genuine change is possible, which of course carries Capricorn responsibility as well as Sagittarian vision. The solar eclipse is the closest new moon to the Great Conjunction and has the potential to be a seed point for genuine and far-reaching change. Its time to dream big, to sow the seeds of those plans and projects we've always been just a little bit afraid of, a little bit nervous about. This is our chance to create genuine change, to leave the rigid and outdated structures of Capricorn behind and work towards a genuine paradigm shift.
The Solstice brings the Sun's ingress into Capricorn as well as the Great Conjunction, shifting us into earth energy so that we can begin to manifest our Sagittarius vision. The two energies run alongside each other for a while, with plenty of astrological triggers for both as the moon waxes. Venus arrives in Sagittarius on December 15th, keeping our passions burning clear and strong. Mercury moves into Capricorn on December 20th, just before the Solstice, meeting the Sun there Capricorn on December 28th just before the full moon which ends the calendar year. On 5th January Mercury meets Pluto in Capricorn, allowing us to articulate our deepest thoughts or fears, before moving on in Aquarius on January 8th. Venus arrives in Capricorn the same day, so we can keep out manifestation process on track. Meanwhile, Mercury moves through Aquarius, meeting Saturn there on January 10th and Jupiter the next day and helping us to articulate our new paradigm. Jupiter makes a productive connection with Chiron the wounded healer, also on January 11th, expanding our potential for healing but also reminding us where and how we are wounded. The archetype of the teacher, as well as the healer, is invoked here and we may be passing on the wisdom we've acquired through our most challenging experiences.
