Full Moon Astro-tarot; relating in troubled times
The full moon in Libra falls in the early hours of April 8th here in the UK, highlighting close relationships and the dynamic of self and other. We are all spending more time with those closest to us than usual in the days of global lockdown and this full moon may find relationships issues coming to a head. This crucible of change works on a personal as well as a collective level and we start with our closest relationships, the mirror and pattern for all of our connection to energies outside of ourselves. Imbalances which seemed unimportant or easier to ignore may suddenly be the centre of our attention and we have no choice now but to deal with what is right in front of us. Libran skills of tact, diplomacy and compromise may be more needed than ever in the coming weeks and there's a balance to be found between speaking our truth and holding space for others to do the same.
A slightly dissonant aspect from Neptune to the full moon highlights the sacrifices we are all having to make and also our mixed feelings about them. We are forced to go with the flow but also have an opportunity to return to the source of our being, to remind ourselves what is truly important and to release the rest. Inner knowing is important at this full moon, especially with another awkward aspect from Venus in Gemini which may bring communication which lacks substance. We need to look beyond the surface and pay attention to our feelings as well as our thoughts. There may be times when words lack meanings - for examples, just listen to any communication from the government - and we need to go deeper to know what is really going on. It's easy to get caught up in an illusion of how we want things to be with this full moon, making it all the more important that we focus on reality as it is.
I'm seeing a lot of folks talking about inner processing, about a rising awareness of our emotional patterns and triggers, all the "stuff" we've been burying which is coming back now in this time of challenge and change. Our enforced introversion can bring old feelings back to the surface, bringing us face to face with the parts of ourselves we've been using our busy, active Aries lives to hide from. This is a sensitive full moon and we need to be especially kind to ourselves, to those around us, most of all to those who are at the front lines of the caring professions. We may be brought face to face with our shadow selves, both collectively and personally and the full moon in Libra always asks us to acknowledge and take ownership of our projections. Issues of social justice and the imbalances which have long held up society are likely to be especially visible with this full moon and maybe the peak energy can compel us to Aries action to right some wrongs.
Simple questions for the tarot this time, since we are all taken back to basics;
Moon in Libra - How are we transforming our relationships? - Two of Discs
The Twos always bring a balance, or a need to find balance, just like Libra. We are finding ways to use the resources we have, to do what we need to do, to work with reality as it is rather than as we wish it was. The ouroboros / snake in this card reminds us that even the most mundane work connects us to the eternal and brings the power to regenerate. Right now we are doing the sacred work of bringing our relationships and our lives back into balance. Of course, we didn't choose this situation but we work with what we have.
Sun in Aries - How are our relationships transforming us? - Ten of Cups
We are discovering the strength of our emotional bonds and the many ways they sustain us. And more than that, we are re-discovering that we are all connected, all drops in the same waterfall. We are re-discovering our power to change our collective situation - often by something as simple as staying at home - reconnecting to our ability to contribute to the greater good rather than focusing purely on our individual needs and individual growth.
Aspects to Venus and Neptune - How can we find clarity among the confusion? - Nine of Cups
By focusing on gratitude and giving ourselves permission to relax, to do the things which bring us joy. We may not be able to let go of fear right now and indeed a certain amount of fear may even be useful, for this is surely not a time to be complacent or to assume that what's happening collectively won't affect us. But defining ourselves by our fear shuts out our other feelings and to find clarity, we need to acknowledge and honour all of them.
I'm especially intrigued by these last two cards, as they are seen as so positive and you might not expect to see them in times like these. They speak of gratitude for sure and maybe also of the emotional overwhelm many of us are feeling right now, which may be heightened by the full moon. These two cards bring the cycle of Cups to a close and perhaps this full moon is illuminating our growing awareness that a cycle is ending. When we finally get "back" to normal, it will actually be a new beginning.
