Full moon Astro-Tarot: Refining Consciousness
The full moon in Pisces on September 14th (at 5.32am here in the UK) activates the Pisces Virgo dynamic and brings seeds planted at the new moon two weeks ago to fruition. The earthy grand trine energy is still being activated. Uranus and Pluto are still tightly keyed in, as they were at the new moon, this time with both making minor but tense aspects to the Moon-Sun opposition. We are still in a time of manifesting deep change and there may be profound and far-reaching consequences to apparently routine actions or decisions. We may be experiencing the consequences of a lack of attention to detail, or perhaps an insistence on forcing a path to a predetermined goal instead of using the Virgo gifts of reviewing and refining to make changes as we go along. As ever with the earth signs, we need to pay attention to what is actually happening, rather than what we think is happening. This is a classic manifestation of the tension between Virgo and Pisces, with the latter being far more likely to get lost in what-ifs and if-onlys whilst the former just does what needs to be done. And of course, it's not as simple as a balance between order and chaos, because everyone defines and experiences those things differently. Some fear chaos and embrace order as the only way to stay in control, others accept and even welcome a certain amount of chaos as a means of staying creative and attentive. Ideas about what order is, what chaos is, the best way to live or organise ourselves, are all subjective and bound up in our emotions (that's Pisces) however sensible and practical we claim to be (and there's Virgo).
The lesson of Virgo is that small actions matter, that we really can each do our bit. The lesson of Pisces is that even as we take those actions, we also need to look beyond the mundane, to honour our feelings and our universal connection. What hurts one of us, hurts all of us. What heals one of us has the potential to heal all of us. The full moon in Pisces asks us once again to move beyond harmful dualities, the "them and us" thinking which causes so much heartache and prejudice. We are all one, with the earth as well as with each other, and our experience of this oneness is what inspires us to manifest change.
So here's my tarot wisdom reading for this full moon;
Moon in Pisces - How can we connect to universal consciousness? - Two of Cups
Simple really, we connect by opening up to the other, by letting ourselves be vulnerable. We find empathy for those closest to us and move out from there. Because how can we connect with a universal consciousness if we can't form genuine connections with our fellow human beings. Reciprocity is key here, giving but also being willing to receive. There's so much division around at the moment, maybe the best and simplest magic is simply to reach out, to find the common ground we have even with those who disagree with us.
Sun in Virgo - How can we manifest our best selves? - Two of Wands
Where the Cups allow or receive, the Wands ask us to be more proactive. Decisive action is needed to manifest our best selves. It's up to us to figure out and then act on our next steps, even if the rest of the path is unclear. As with all the Twos, there's a balance to be found here between self-belief, having confidence in ourselves and our ability to act, and also having trust in the universe that our actions will bring results.
Aspects to Uranus and Pluto - How do our individual actions serve the collective? - Death
Well this question would seem to be the crux of the matter. No surprise that a Major Arcana card comes up when the outer planets are involved. There's a big shift needed here, perhaps a return to awareness of and concern for the collective, a need to let go of only focusing on our own individual wants and needs. Clearly, something needs to be released, a powerful transformation needs to happen in the way that individuals serve the collective. Perhaps its consumption, the assumption that the planet is ours to exploit as we'd like, the assumption that we are entitled whatever we want rather than it being a reciprocal arrangement. Perhaps we start by shifting our attention out to the collective, by asking ourselves how our personal goals can help others too. Of course, many of us already do this. But a wider culture change is needed, back to reciprocity and collective action being our main focus rather than the individual always coming first.
