Playing with fire
As the year turns around to Lammas, festival of the first harvest, the Sun is in Leo, joined on Saturday 30th July by a Leo new moon. Venus has also moved into Leo, and as the flamboyant fiery energy of Leo builds, we remember that the Sun, ruler of Leo, is not only the centre of our planetary system, it is the fuel for life. Leo reflects these qualities, forging ahead with creative projects and carrying others along with their enthusiasm. Leo time is a time to dream big, to seek your purpose, to put your Self centre stage and to grow as an individual.
Leo represents the divine child, warm, generous and creative. People with strong Leo energy often enjoy being the centre of attention, and may enjoy performing on stage and expressing their creativity to others - they like to have an audience, and the most expansive stage they can find. Leo people are often charismatic and playful, although they may also be demanding and expect the attention of others. Leo can sometimes come across as vain or bossy, especially if their deep-seated need to be acknowledged and recognised for their true self is not being met. The search for individuality can become egocentricity if we forget to look at the bigger picture, if we lose our awareness of our place in the world.
The sign of fixed fire, Leos are often very ambitious and determined, with a strong sense of purpose. They are natural leaders, and indeed Leo is the sign of kings and other rulers. Fearless, strong, proud and loyal, these are all qualities which we can cultivate to help us find and acknowledge our inner authority, our personal shining sun. British weather notwithstanding, this is a time to play and have fun, as we gather in the first fruits of our year's creativity. Its a time to look at what makes you feel alive, what fills you with enthusiasm, and to use that to let yourself shine.
