Beginning to flow
This week brings an influx of shiny new energy, with Imbolc on Tuesday and a new moon in Aquarius at 02.30 am GMT today. We are moving from root time into shoot time, getting ready to set new projects in motion, and to enjoy the lighter and brighter days. Imbolc celebrates the returning light, from the seed point of Yule. Snowdrops are blooming, there are green shoots in the garden. I am enjoying the beginnings of spring in our new garden, where every green shoot is an exciting surprise and the robins seem to be considering a nest in one of our shrubs.
This morning's new moon is another seed point, focusing the annual cycle of the sun into the monthly cycle of the moon. Aquarius, the eleventh sign of the zodiac, is concerned with the uniqueness of the individual but also with humanity as a collective. After the steady hard work of establishing Capricornian structures, Aquarius wants to break it down, to shock a little. Aquarius brings change, evolutionary or revolutionary. Where Capricorn was concerned with conforming to society's expectations, Aquarius might want to rebel purely for the sake of shaking things up. Instead of bowing to established authorities, Aquarius asks us to find our own inner authority, our authentic sense of self and of our place within the collective. As well as the Moon and Sun, Mars is also in Aquarius right now, adding power and energy, and perhaps an extra layer of confrontation, to our new moon projects. This might be a month when we find ourselves seeking new forms of authority, or new ways of expressing authority. However Chiron in the final degrees of Aquarius brings the ability to heal, to find a bridge between different ways of thinking. This is a time to step out of our comfort zone, to allow the fresh flow of Aquarius the Waterbearer to purify our thinking, to leave behind dogma (always a risk with Aquarius, the sign of fixed air), to allow ourselves to be excited by new ideas and creative thinking. Blessings of the returning spring!
